LEGS FEED THE WOLF

Feed the Wolf Weightlifting was founded in 2019 by Morgan Gosselin.

In October of 2018 I started coaching my university’s club weightlifting team and soon after pursued a minor in coaching from the University of Vermont. I was very passionate about all the classes I was taking related to coaching and soon realized the potential I had as a coach. I continued to coach some of the members of the team after graduation and in October of 2019 I decided to start my own club and coaching services.

My Coaching Philosophy

Why are we involved in sports? I was asked this question my senior year of college in a sport and society class. Do we do it to gain success and make money? Maybe for some, but I think sports comes down to creating friendships and bonds with athletes, coaches and other families you meet along the way. I believe we enter the world of sports to become better people and build character. My goal is to make my athletes tougher, stronger and ultimately a better person. Whether that is learning to communicate, trust or respect other athletes, coaches or the process of weightlifting. My coaching style is constantly evolving and has been influenced by my coaches, Chris Polakowski & Cortney Batchelor and my current & former athletes.

When working with me as a coach, I am honest and expect all of my athletes to give me their best effort day in and day out. As long as they can give me their best for that day, that is all I can ask for in athlete.

As my current athletes can tell you now, I develop all my athletes to have strong legs. The name Feed the Wolf Weightlifting stemmed from the quote by Herb Brooks, “legs feed the wolf.” Without leg strength and endurance you cannot expect to get too far in weightlifting. The snatch and the clean & jerk revolve around how to efficiently use your legs. Strong legs are everything in weightlifting.

My experience has ranged from working with beginner weightlifters to current and former Crossfit athletes. Most recently I brought three athletes to the 2020 University, Junior & U25 Nationals and had athletes place in 7th & 12th place in their weight classes.
